A Three Party Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Kathmandu Metropolitan City and Himalayan Rescue Association Nepal on Friday 3rd June 2016. On behalf of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Chief and Executive Officer Mr. Rudra Singh Tamang and on behalf of Himalayan Rescue Association Nepal, Chairman Mr. D. B. Koirala signed the MoU. After signing this MoU here in Nepal, MoU will be sent to the Autonomous Province of Bolzano/Bozen (Italy) to be signed by Dr. Arno Kompatscher, the President of the autonomous province of Bolzano/Bozen- South Tyrol.

It was mutually committed and agreed among these three parties to set up a prefabricated fire station with connected mountain rescue training centre. Further in the MoU it is also agreed that Kathmandu Metropolitan city would provide the public land, the Autonomous Province of Bolzano/Bozen – South Tyrol will provide the framework of cooperation with Kathmandu Metropolitan City Office financial support for purchasing, delivering and installing the prefabricated materials necessary for setting up the fire station connected to mountain rescue training centre. In particular the institute of mountain Emergency Medicine of Eurac Research, the Mountain Rescue of South Tyrol and the Fire Brigade of Bozen Bolzano will jointly set down the technical requirement of the building according to international standards.

The Kathmandu Metropolitan City Office/Kathmandu fire Brigade and the Himalayan Rescue Association Nepal will ensure the necessary human and financial resources to run the centre. The mountain rescue training centre including training hall and climbing wall will be managed by the Himalayan Rescue Association and Fire Station will be managed by the Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Fire Brigade of Kathmandu.
